Hi George - No big deal. While the sulfur loads are very interesting, as we all know, volcanic eruption and cometary dust loading are not mutually exclusive, ref Thera eruption, Comet Encke pass, 1628 BCE. Also, as Baillie pointed out, observed "small" volcanic dust loads seem to precipitate out of the atmosphere in a short time. If only impact researchers had a part of the funding vulcanologists get! I am most interested in any new data on volcanic activity around 416 CE: https://cosmictusk.com/reprint-grondine-essay-on-collapse-of-roman-empire leading to a plague outbreak. In summation, one point everyone can agree on is the need for more ice cores. All I can add now to this is that I worked this problem as well as I could then. It's in the hands of others now. Fortunately, in the case of the Holocene Start Impacts we don't have to depend on subtle data, as there is the global rapid simultaneous extinction of many species.
