Source notes
The paper's focus is synchronising the ice core data from both poles for mapping the extent of volcanic contribution to climate change. In supplementary figure S1B they include the Pt spike from Petaev 2013, clearly showing it post-dates the volcanic eruptions, and marks the onset of the cooling in Greenland.
