The Bib

Welcome to the permanent host page for the most comprehensive bibliography and free archive of scientific literature related to the Younger Dryas Impact Hypothesis (YDIH), beginning with the first paper published in 2007. This resource is the result of a collaboration between the Tusk and Australian Geoarchaeologist Marc Young, who performed the meticulous work. An additional archive of “historical” catastrophist citations prior to 2007 is available here, compiled by Mr. William I. Thompson III.

Uniquely, this page provides not only citations, but full access to the documents themselves—just click the “Read It” link at the start of each row. The archive is current as of January 5, 2023, and Marc and I intend to keep it updated going forward.

How to Interpret the Table

To help users navigate this often contentious literature, we’ve developed a labeling system that reflects our editorial interpretation of each paper’s stance on the YDIH. These designations are color-coded and include iconography for clarity:

Stance Indicators:

  • 🟢😁 Strongly Supports – Paper makes a firm and central case for the Younger Dryas Impact Hypothesis.
  • 🟢🙂 Supports – Paper presents evidence or arguments that support the YDIH, even if not the main focus.
  • 🟢🙂 Neutral, Evidence Strongly Supports – Paper takes a neutral stance but contains strong supporting data.
  • 🟢😐✔️ Neutral, Evidence Supports – Paper does not argue for YDIH directly, but presents data consistent with it.
  • 🔘😐❔ Neutral, Implications Unknown – Relevance to YDIH is unclear, but paper touches on related topics.
  • 🟡🙄 Critical – Paper questions the YDIH or presents counterpoints without definitive refutation.
  • 🔴😡 Negative, Claims to Refute – Paper asserts a contrary conclusion, attempting to disprove the hypothesis.
  • 🟣♨️ Hiawatha Crater – Research concerning the Hiawatha structure, which may relate to the YDIH. These papers will be removed if the crater is definitively dated outside the relevant period.
  • 🟤🤡 Supports, Utter Nonsense – Papers that purport to support YDIH but are deemed scientifically unserious.

Independence and Bias Indicators:

  • ✅ = Independent Study – Authors unaffiliated with the YDB or CRG teams
  • ❎ = Not Independent – Authors associated with YDB (2007–2016) or CRG (2016–2024). Some begin Independent but later collaborate with the CRG
  • ☑️ = Independent, No Established Bias Against YDIH
  • ✖️ = Not Independent, Associated with Critics of the Hypothesis

These categories reflect our ongoing assessment of the literature and may evolve over time. Our intent is to make this dense and technical body of work more accessible to researchers, media, and the interested public.
