Skeptics of the YDIB hypothesis frequently state that “no one can reproduce the YDIB results” (Kerr, 2010); “nobody has found anything” (Kerr, 2010); there is a “lack of reproducibility of data” (Holliday, 2011); and “unique peaks in concentrations at the YD onset have yet to be reproduced” Pinter (2011). These casual dismissals are hurtful to the investigation, demonstrably false…

I have been working on putting this nugget from Climategate 2.0 into context, but wanted to get something up in the meantime. Below is a fascinating exchange between the high priests of climate science, an editor of a paper they had recently submitted, and a reviewer whose own contrary theory was being eviscerated by the paper he was asked to review.
It can be deduced that Mike Baillie is the…

A friend of the Tusk sent me a fascinating website, The Meaning of the Vedas, stating the hypothesis of Mr. Ravindra Vasudeo Godbole that the origin of the ancient Vedic oral literature of India and Pakistan was the trauma of repeated bombardments from the Taurid cometary debris stream (so well described by Bill Napier and blogged here on the Tusk). To properly critique the argument, one…

Internet science gadfly, Mr. Thomas Lee Elifritz, suggested a couple of years ago that the subtle elevation feature in Ontario described in his monograph below might be a candidate for what might remains after a large impact into the Pleistocene ice sheet. Like Mr. Elifritz or not, it is an interesting feature and I thought worth posting. If someone has access to Canadian LiDAR imaging I would…

New research reveals that nanodiamonds can be formed in relatively benign terrestrial environments — such as a candle and flame. This lends a lot of support to the YD team’s hypotheses that the diamonds they find in the black mat were formed terrestrially, not through shock pressure, but rather by a hypoxic conflagration. In fact, they have a patent on it.
Nanodiamonds in candle…

Allow me to take a personal privilege here and post the new brochure I have been working on for Restoration Systems. I post this because, first of all, most blogs have off-subject insights into the blog author’s other interests. And second, this is the kind of economic responsibility I feel above and beyond my fondness for the Cosmic Tusk. For the most part, my duties at RS are why I come…
